How do you turn on your camera

How do you turn on your camera to start shooting in public? Do you just stand there go to the camera app press record and start shooting or do you have some specific shortcut way of doing it because I feel like the former is quite obvious.

Also would appreciate some iphone input as I know androids have a way around this

I will usually turn my camera on before I walk into any store place that might have subject I want to capture. Set the screen to dark and walk in with the phone in your hand like everyone else. If I don’t have the camera up already I will pretend I’m texting so it’s less obvious that I’m turning on my camera.

I cover up the back camera with my hand and then double tap the lock button to quick launch the camera. Hit record, then hit the “black screen” app floating button. I used to use the quick video record app but the quality was much worse.

With phone in hand down to side, right hand, iphone12:
You can press power with thumb, slide thumb top to bottom (phone is horizontal on side), that opens the camera app.
