best thing i worked out is holding it in your hand together with a backback strap
imagine a phone in is right hand
not the best but worked sometimes for me

Put it in pants pocket with camera part showing. Or hold the phone like youre texting or looking at your phone close up and get quick shots before putting it down

There are multiple tips in this category. Some are very detailed, others not so much.
Depending on where I am, I’ll use my Hydroflask and hold it together with my phone (having my phone held sideways and holding the hydro by the handle in same hand) and occasionally turn it so the camera faces them every so often. I also like to do the same strategy while I’m waking beside them, it’s great for getting side shots like this
