I’ve recently started capping and need some tips from people who have capped for a while. What are some tactics you use to shoot pictures without being suspicious or getting caught. I am able to record with my phone screen off but havent found a way to hold my phone while I stand behind a target without feeling like I look extremely suspicious while doing so. I live near a college campus and have unlimited opportunities for caps so I want to get good at this to share the college hotties I get to see often.
Following as well
Never make eye contact
Best thing for me is to pretend that you are on the phone (Bluetooth) while walking around and getting caps. Act like any girl who is getting capped isn’t worth your time. Avoid making eye contact, act as natural as possible. It helps being in shape and dress cleanly to avoid being typecast as one of the pervs they talk about.
Never cap at work.
Routinely clean out your phone.
Never cap someone who knows you.
I personally rarely cap inside places due to (usually) poorer lighting and cameras, but if you do, be aware that if you frequent a place and act suspiciously they could check their cameras.
Try not to linger in any one place for more than 5-10 minutes.
All these tips are very good, one i feel like doesnt get talked about is if you use a cell Phone, get a good privacy screen protector. Get good at your camera so you can turn your brightness all the way down and your screen will be basically black. Another great tool is if you have a Samsung ultra, the pen can control your camera and video. Great for at stores, most stores now have a phone holder on the cart. Set it up and youll never have to touch your phone, just hold the pen in your hand. Ive been able to get some great video of some tail that way and youre able to just go about your business casually.
Lotta tips out there. Here I’m still using this one, Shortcuts for iPhone.
I can say, ‘hey Siri smelly socks’ with my AirPods in OR click the app which is just an icon that starts a series of actions.
White point goes down, screen dims to 0,
Video turns on rear camera (cuz who uses the selfie one, amiright?)
Volume level drops so no clicking/dings
And saves the file to a folder of my choice
Here’s the basic setup:
It’s not always don’t make eye contact with subject, but it is always know who’s in your backstop. Who is watching you? Also not being suspecting.
It helps tremendously if your in your own environment, like when the hood chicks ain’t looking behind them for 20 min straight videos (slight exaggeration of course). Similar, I go to Dicks often so it’s normal to see me there - though the work location can have a lot more serious affects and isn’t a good idea. In other walks of life it may be how well dressed you are, or how easy on the eyes you are. This isnt always the case due to each persons (subject) experience.
There is also an option to turn your screen completely black while recording. go into guided access and setup voice over. turn the volume off and then in the camera app you can triple click the power button select voice over… and then touch your phone consecutively 3 times with 3 fingers and it turns completely black while you record
Just use phones ? Or use anything else ?
I just use the guided access thing to turn the brightness right down then pretend I’m on the phone, if anyone sees it from afar the red record button actually looks like the red button to end a call and if you can sound convincing on the pretend call and you aren’t very obviously following the subject around then nobody will suspect anything because the idea of someone faking a call and doing an improv performance whilst taking a candid video of someone they’re not even looking at is unfathomable to most people
My question would be how do people follow their target with such steadiness and for long. Seen it down the street for up to like 5 minutes. In a store for a long time, its insane and impressive.
Yeah I tried that. I’m not a fan of it cuz I tend to shuffle the phone around and feel awkward doing it at times. Sometimes I may have things in my hands to help the process along, and also not sure enough it’s working g even though the haptic feedback is on-just wasn’t enough. It is great for anyone to try.
Oh yeah, the other reason is cuz I use the triple click to turn down the whiteness also to be ready faster. It has its drawbacks as well cuz I use it to prevent others from rummaging through my phone. So my triple click would provide three options, it got to be a hassle is all. Then shortcuts came out making it all easier.
iPhone still records with drop down menu . Not sure if that will help .
If its 5 continuous minutes, steady, without a single cut in the video, i’d imagine hidden / bag cam setup. Openly and smoothly holding a phone for that long is obviously possible but very difficult to do unnoticed.
