Awesome idea actually!
Imagining it deeply made me question one thing though:
Wouldnt it be sus having the cap open and the bottle sideways?
You can only cap up and like plusminus 30° angle, but never hip level without making it look like its going to spill.

From a designer/artist standpoint, these things are caught by brains subconsciously, people usually think its going to spill out and that is because real world creates believability and is absolute, anything unnatural will stand out instantly, am I missing something in your technique?

I might guess that people notice it but not the lens, are confused but cant comprehend and just forget
until that one sherlock-like person gazes into the void of a pristine eye of candid.
So its still not foolproof, be careful, even if it worked so far, the risk is not 0, so I wouldnt let my guard down yet.

Ill try to use 3D printing to improve on that, but having something in hand, plus a gopro or something good inside seems like the ultimate move if all things check out.
Perhaps a mesh can do wonders to hide the lens. You can try to use math to have the mesh enough distance to barely affect visibility.

Need to come up with something super natural to hold in hand which can fit a gopro inside.

That’s why phone is a top option.

Its an alround “ok” for quick caps, but holding a phone sideways without any reason is very sus, I tried to find men doing that, but I see mostly women doing it and not sideways.
It just looks off, I see often girls looking at the phone lens in hand because very likely they suspect or “judge” you if you’re capping or not, most of them are aware and Im very sure of it already given the experience.

Its just not good holding it sideways, rather needs natural movement, like scratch an itch or adjust belt, but you cant go around doing it aaaall the time, when walking in a stream of people they will notice you moving around the phone too much, and likely question why you didnt use the other (empty) hand to scratch or adjust. See what Im getting at? Its not the best solution but its the best for spontaneous quick cap.

For hunting its best concealed cam with max flexibility.

I disagree. Everyone has their phone in hand nowadays. Just have to be natural with it

Thats exactly what Im saying, it works only if its natural, which means you have really half a second time to shoot, and only once or twice before they notice.

Im just not a fan of phone even tho I do it myself, when I see girls holding their phone, its never sideways, its unnatural. The lens is either up or down.
Which means only guys do sideways, which is a dead giveaway.
Go out and observe, maybe its different from country to country, but here its what I see and cant unsee, they notice and just cant do much about it without proof.

But Im just sharing my experience.
If you think its not valuable enough, go make your own please and report back, Id like to talk about this topic once you understand my point, because it seems like you didnt read my post and just disagreed after the first sentence, despite me mentioning exactly what you disagree with.

You can hold the camera in either direction, doesn’t need to be perfect. That’s where editing comes in. Honestly, you’re biggest issue is the stores catching on to what you’re doing.
