Descrete Camera Setups Used by Popular Shooters

I’m looking into finding an alternative way to cap than phone holding. As capping has become increasingly popular and women are on the lookout more than ever, using your phone to cap is extremely challenging or impossible to get any footage.

In the past 6 months, I have had several situations where I am not the only one capping the same chick in the same setting. In one case, I was capping at the mall and another shooter in the same store was confronted, and security grabbed him, all while I was recording a close up. I thought I was the suspect, but wasn’t! :folded_hands:

Also, I have noticed that just walking into an isle while holding your phone and your a guy, women immediately either walk away or watch you and your every move on high alert.

With that being said, what equipment setups are successful popular shooters like TopShelf, PlusGymCandids, SoCal and JakeFC using to remain undetected to get close-ups and upshot in bright crystal clear 4k video?

Proshooter uses a small Sony camera that he carries in hand, Bootyful candids uses a small action camera or pocket camera that he freely carries. Both are too obvious and I’ll never take that risk.

Because of white knights that continously monitor this site, please send me a DM to discuss this topic privately.

IMO the best disguise to discretely film is to look good and smell good. I mean it won’t let you stick the phone straight inches from their ass if there are other people around, but great for more close crowdedness or being alone to stick it nice and close

do something with the phone other than just holding it. pretend to talk, text someone, look at a list of items in that store, have amazon page open for item in front of you

all of these would require your phone screen to not show the camera app. if you have to show the camera app just dont cap - too risky

also, carrying a bottle or something in your same hand with the phone can justify holding the phone directly pointed forwards

last of all, don’t get greedy, if you feel like someone is on you just bail

There’s no magic camera and setup at the end it’s you and your phone or your action cap. If you want to stay discrete, you need social awareness, and also need to know how to deal with your feelings and sensations and discern which is true or false. For example : sometimes your brain will make you panic making you think eveyrtone looks at you while nobidy cares, while sometimes your gut feeling really prevents you that youare pushing this too far,and getting too suspected. You have to know that the higher the risk, the better the reward. I’ve never been busted once, probably lightly or never suspected.

Everyone answering bs or off topic unrelated unhelpful shit (pretend to text) no one wants to record vertically. it looks shit, were recording horizontally. (no magic camera and setup) cool, not what was asked, ofc the shooter has to be skilled and have social awareness.

Either open hand shoot with your phone in hand held horizontally or DIY a setup with an action cam, inside a tumbler or a bag. No other option, you will have to DIY a setup or use your phone.

I was bad with my phone filming horizontally, so switched to a gopro+bag early on.

I find that its much more sneaky than a phone. Everyone knows a phone can take pictures.

The trick is obscuring the lens of the camera with the material of the bag in such a way that the lens just blends in, or there’s a design or something on the bag that makes it basically invisible. Requires some art skills.

My last bag (which the police confiscated lmao) lasted me 3 years and only my body language betrayed me. Sorry I dont have any pictures, but I painted it black and used a grid of black tape to make the lens of the GoPro harder to distinguish.

Humans are not landscapes. Vertical for full frame. Horizontal for just 2 cheeks

If you can’t film horizontally, then this isn’t the right hobby for you

And again, it’s off topic, help the guy with his question. My opinion, buy a 30 or 40z tumbler, stick an action camera in there, secure it however you can and there’s your hidden setup, hit up festivals and raves and get gold. So long as they don’t check you, or just your phone, work just as good. Outside of said events, day to day life, probably just use a bag like rayne said or just your phone again

I swear I see so many posts about setups and it’s only gatekeeping or people wanting to sell their setups, they’re all DIY, hire some dude off fiver to 3d print you some shit, go in person to see someone who can do it for you and think about it, lots of the guys you mentioned are rave dudes pretty sure, they can’t get a bag in with a camera most of the time, check which events they go to, they prob just stuff a camera in a water bottle (tumbler)

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Just know, I can still get epic God Tier caps with just hand holding. I already do the tips and tricks some of you mentioned and use a special app to record while having full functionality of the phone and videos can’t be found on the phone if it is searched through by whoever.

The issue is that women are evolving to be more self aware of any guy around them holding their phone. No matter how well you look and smell or how low key you can be, they still have that initial instinctive awareness making it more challenging overall for anyone. They tend to avoid the situation of a encounter, regardless of the situation, to eliminate the possibility. If they are evolving, we have to evolve too.

I am still against the idea of a camera bag or bottle. Of the two, a bottle camera is much more descrete if the lens can fit perfectly centered within the bottle opening. Haptic camera feedback and or a descrete haptic remote is ideal and a must in any setting for start/stop recordings. You need to focus on getting great camera angles, and not focusing on if your camera is recording or not when a unexpected encounter occurs.

Most baddies I encounter are in settings where having a bag or bottle is either suspicious (like in a grocery store) or you simply don’t have them on you like if a baddie walks in to a gas station unexpectedly.

I don’t think it’s illegal to film in public …I’m sure if a woman or someone harassed you after catching you they would be the ones that could be “charged”

with the lense sticking out of the cap?

Yea, something like that, or right before the lid, but make sure there’s no black bars on the side or nothing obstructing the view and is well hidden

Wait, so no bag, no bottle, no phone in hand? What else is there?

Yeah its the typical maneuver I do.

I walk up behind the girl, within about 1 meter if I can, then gradually turn the bag around to my side, then behind me as I walk by and in front of her.

Keeping her ass/hips/crotch in frame the whole time is pretty difficult. Its taken me many summers of capping and reviewing footage to get it down right.

Hi, did you ever get a response on this? I’m looking into a new technique as well.
