Help or advice for a google account

I have a google account I haven’t logged into in awhile and have tons of caps in it that are really good, I can’t login to it because I don’t use the phone number associated with it anymore and need a code from that number if I want to login, is that account done and over with or is it safe to try and call who ever has my old number to give me the code so I can log back in to my old google account.? Will that person be able to login to my account and see all that’s on it?

There has to be another way aside from the number associated with the account. I’m sure if you dig deep enough, you can find an option that allows you to use a recovery email or other resources to regain access. You [may] even be able to reach out directly to a rep and inquire further.

Yeah there for sure has to be another way. If someone random you don’t know were to call and ask you for a code you received on your phone you would think you were getting hacked or some other malicious intent. Probably not the wisest choice.

I have no other security checks/questions or recovery emails linked to it besides that phone number, I know my password but can’t login without that phone number. Its been over 2 years and I hope it’s not reassigned and I may be able to still get it otherwise I’m just gonna have to hope I don’t sound to scammy when asking that person for a code like a bot.

Have you asked this from chatGPT?

Google is AWFUL about account security. I almost got locked out my own main account because it was asking me to confirm with a phone I just factory reset because I moved to a new one. I had to dig out an old iPhone from years ago that still had my Gmail.

Genuinely good luck trying to get support to help, to ask support for help, need to log in :upside_down_face:

Just to get some AI bot BS. Hate google with all my being.

That happened to me with my yahoo account years ago. I’m sure google follows the same process in recovering account. All I need it to do was link my new number and add a back email which I would receive my new code to reset password and stuff. You would need to call their customer service though
