Anyone else feeling like they’ve lost their touch?
Been having horrible Candids lately and I’m not proud of my work. Here are some examples of sloppy work…
Happens to me too, I literally missed a few recently, instead filming floor or upper back lol. Just gotta chill it down while capturing, we’ll get through it
As mentioned in a previous thread I flubbed, too. It happens to the best of us.
All part of the learning process, I think. You can get back to it. Good luck.
I noticed this as well. I was able to get amazing candids before and nobody ever said anything to me or even noticed me for that matter. It feels like there has been a switch in the collective consciousness in America recently, especially after Covid.
People notice things. They see you filming. They’re hyper-analytical and are looking for any reason to get angry at someone or to call someone out on something. After I noticed this I realized I was subconsciously making the decision to take less pictures and to be more careful out of fear of being discovered or put on the internet.
It’s like playing baseball for me. The more I play the less afraid I am of the ball. However, getting back into candids after my recent slump is so hard and the social landscape of America doesn’t make it any easier
That is exactly what I experience, too! Whenever I definitely can’t take advantage of a situation because I’m with other people, that’s when the hottest subjects show up as if they’ve been called in to tease me.
Other times I look for hours by myself, taking precious time out of my work hours, and can’t find anything but ugly out-of-date material or sometimes no women at all.
Big problem for me is also dress/sk!rt season. I refuse to get into that kind of crap, not just because it can’t be uploaded here, but also because I strongly prefer leggings and spandex PAWGs with camel toes and bubble butts anytime over that traditional non-revealing stuff. Can’t use it.
Women are becoming more aware of creep shots, and are more suspicious these days. There have been some tik tok videos circulating amongst the wine aunt and cat mom circles.
That being said, ya’ll phone shooters have to get up close and personal in a way that us DSLR shooters don’t have to. Perhaps it’s just the nature of that shooting technique that makes it more obvious to women.
You couldn’t have said it better my friend. Let’s get back to it
Man today I went out to do some hunting and I felt like every chick was spotting my phone.
Yep. I always take the risk of going in close 1-2 feet sometimes. One time I tripped and almost fell on my target
I have used my DLSR up close, but was always shielded by the noise and commotion of a crowded city street. There were a few close calls, but the crowds made it easy to hide.
The only time I was caught then was when the crowd got quiet all of a sudden and the subject heard my shutter click.
This is it. This is 100% it.
With the rise of social media, and these kind of videos becoming more prevalent on the web (Especially when I read some of the users stating the “thrill” they got from getting caught), pandemic, and other candid groups getting shut down, I find people are becoming more cognizant of what’s around them. It was fish in a barrel, back in 2016-2017. Now, I’ll be lucky to walk away with a few decent shots. It’s not like I’m getting any less than I was before, but the quality and the duration of my videos have gone down significantly in recent years for this reason. People are more alert than they once were, and I can’t imagine it helps that candid shooting is being more widely adopted in the advent of smartphones and technology (in addition to smartphones themselves getting more bigger than ever, so less covert for the uninitiated who don’t take this into account). I am not saying this is a bad thing at all, just that there’s obviously the ying and yang of it where a community like this has come of it, but also that a few bad apples may be going to extremes and shedding a negative light on us.
