Iphone Shooting in stores

Hey all, curious if anyone has good tips for positioning yourself in stores to cap some cheeks, like do yall just have your phone in spare hand and sneak on subjects for those nice upshots and closeups? Curious how yall position yourself for enoguh time for a good shot without getting caught, do you have another object in hand too?

I think the best method for getting crazy shots like this is a 360 cam and a telescopic stick . But if you wanna use a phone you gonna have to get , Close, low down and dirty with it . All while aiming at the :peach:

That’s why I respect the shooters who use a phone. The risk you have to get certain angles is huge. But yeah bending down and lowering your phones really near their ass is basically only way to do it.

I think he used the wide angle setting on some of those. So you don’t have to get in some real close crazy position.

When they’re turned around, and obviously the surrounding environment/bystanders allows, you just bend down and pretend to look at some items. It takes time and practice to get the aim right but once you do its actually fairly easy to get good and consistent caps. GL

You need to observe the subject beforehand a bit from a distance. See how aware they are of the people around them, ideally you should look for those that don’t mind people standing close by - it won’t be all the subjects.

Being in crowded stores / aisles can help if you don’t move all suspiciously around the subject.

Don’t be staring at them before you cap, that raises the alarm. I generally avoid eye contact unless it happens naturally.

Look like you’re shopping, and look presentable. Women are more cautious around creepy looking bums. It’s okay to look like a confused shopper, read labels - waste time to be around the subject.

I mainly use my phone in the offhand. Sometimes holding a basket

Something I’ve found that helps is getting a smaller item (deodorant etc.) and holding it on your hand with your phone in front of it. Then it looks somewhat natural and your camera will be facing out

Holding the phone upside-down, + ultra wide is how you get those easily, i.e. the phone facing down but tilted a bit upwards to get the angle. Gotta get super close, in lines or crowded and narrow places is easy but in stores standing behind so close to someone for 1+ second is risky so will depend the situation gotta be creative, walk by slower to get some clear frames.

I only use phone for my shots, I have a personal rule in my head when I’m shooting to try and never look down at my phone as it can cause other people to look at what you are looking at and try to not look at the subject often, very rarely I will just to read body language of where they might be going and if they are getting sus. I usually use 2x mode and it is kinda just feel for how to angle the phone I usually walk behind them off to the right or left slightly to stay out of their view but also use them to block people from the front seeing what I am doing.
