My phone (S21 FE) has been dropping the ball a lot lately despite me improving my technique. Shit is just blurry for no reason and focuses on the wrong shit. Any1 got any recs for a new phone (one w/ good auto focus and low light capabilities)?
The usual suspects Iphone, samsung galaxy etc
is the new s24 any good?
Can’t really go wrong with any of the flagship phones.
s24 it is. hopefully can record in 8k and downscale to 4k for epic quality footage
I’ve seen great footage from it.
Avoid the new iPhone, the cameras have a focusing issue. Apple knows about but isn’t doing anything.
If you don’t mind a slowing down due to their stupid software. Oneui is lame and tries to shove away Android’s.
ya i got that shitty update on my current phone. it’s terrible. maybe i can get the new android and flash an old OS onto it. or go outta the box and get a pixel lol
Personal opinion is that… (based on raw, straight out of the box shooting, zero editing)
Modern pixels produce the best overall quality (so it’s my go to for primary lens shots, even though I currently don’t own one at the moment - little on the high saturation side if you don’t like that kind of thing. I feel it’s tastefully done and adds an almost cinematic look to the final edit)
iPhone’s have the best stabilization & best wide angle camera (and it’s the middle of the road from the top 3 in terms of quality and ease of use, so it’s my go-to for wide angle due to its stabilization, quality, and wider field of view)
Samsung’s are the most easiest to edit. Although, visually speaking, it’s my least favorite in terms of overall look. (Fantastic quality, dull color reproduction compared to the other 2)
You can’t go wrong, though. All 3 will give you more of enough quality for candid videos. Not that it matters a whole lot, considering you’ll have to do some compression anyway to the final product. In all honesty, most modern smartphone cameras will give you fantastic shots. You don’t have to drop a grand + for a decent shooter. An S22U, a Pixel 7 Pro, or an iPhone 13 Pro can do the job. Even its budget counterparts all more than capable.
Appreciate the detailed post
I wonder about Xperia 1 VI
Seems like they improved that auto mode and the phone looks fantastic in my opinion, it isn’t also like vivo or xioami with big camera isle on half of the backside xd
I have poco x3 pro and and i’m alos looking into change…
Budget friendly i saw in stores Pixel 6/7/8 pro.
Pixel 6 pro costed like 400/450$… any device from this price range doens’t stand a chance (telephoto lens) even more expensive midrange phones still has 1 usable lens, the rest is useless - 8 mpix ultrawide and 2 mpx macro - like why do You even bother to add that 2 mpix macro there XD
a phone with 4k 60fps in good quality is ideal.
Agreed, which is why my choice would be the iPhone 15. Does 4k60 on all cameras and is up to par or exceeds the competition when it comes to the 2 rear and 1 front cameras. As far as I know.
There’s also the 2.8K action mode in 60 fps. If that interests you.
My 2 cnts, having an S21 I learned when I used to cap that using 30fps instead of 60fps will make your camera less flickery and it ill keep the shots more stable, U won’t have the smoothness of 60fps, however, the quality of the shot will be way more consistent. Try UHD 30fps.
well the thing w/ the s21 is the bitrate is much lower on regular 4k than the 60 fps variant. 4k 30 fps is like avg of 50 mbps and avg bitrate of 4k 60fps is 80 mbps. The quality difference is pretty substantial also
Funny thing is I noticed that when using 30fps the quality was sharper and colors looked brighter, stability was top notch, while when using 60pfs the image looked more opaque and way too flickery, dunno if its just me but that is why I chose to stick with UHD 30fps. I tried all different combinations to get the best quality for the caps and nothing topped those specs.
ill give it a shot, see if i improvement then get back at ya
Checking your posts I don’t think it’s any hardware issues and just how the phone cam is sadly, but if your shit is blurry or out of focus all the time then I just wanna throw out the idea to make sure you’re always cleaning your camera lens with a microfiber cloth since even if your finger barely touches the lens then it can really fuck up with a shot even if it’s slightly dirty.
I found out not too long ago that my phone cam is way better than I give it credit for but only because I finally cleaned the damn lens properly
But if you already do that then I’d say go ahead with upgrading to something like the S24/S24U, I’ve seen people on other forums praising the camera on it and said it’s worth the upgrade from something like s20/s21
I use the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I love the action button or whatever it’s called. I have a shortcut set up so I can just hold it and it opens up the camera and turns on voice over. Then I just have to tap with 3 fingers 3 times to make the screen black and use volume buttons for pictures. Pretty nice. Also the video quality is good, but I assume it’s similar with other high-end phones.
